Kelly Khumalo Owes R30 000
Kelly Khumalo is in trouble after an organiser accused her of failing to perform at a Women’s Month event.
Speaking to a media outlet on Thursday, 30 September, Caroline Mosiamo – the founder and organiser of the South African Heroines Awards – claimed that she paid Khumalo R30 000 in cash to sing at the event last month in Bloemfontein.
Per receipts, Mosiamo paid the “Asine” singer R10 000 on 4 August; two weeks later, she paid her the remaining R20 000. Additionally, she covered her hotel expenses.
Mosiamo explained that when Khumalo arrived four hours after the event started, she refused to get out of her chauffeured car without providing a reason.
She said: “Her rider request was that we buy alcohol and snacks, and we spent R6 000 on this. We ended up giving it to people who attended the event. I asked her manager if she could perform at our next event to make up for it, but he told me Kelly wouldn’t because she spent money to travel to Bloemfontein.”
Mosiamo is threatening to pursue the legal route if Khumalo fails to pay back the money. The singer has yet to comment on the issue.
